Therapy FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

We know reaching out for support can bring questions. Below are answers to some of the most common questions we receive about therapy, assessments, and getting started at Everbloom Psychology & Wellness.

Getting started

How do I book my first appointment?

You can book a free consultation through our online booking form or by emailing us at hello@everbloompsychology.ca. We'll help connect you with a therapist whose approach and expertise align with your needs.

How quickly will you respond to my inquiry?

We typically respond to inquiries within 24-48 hours during our office hours (Monday-Sunday, 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM).

What happens in the first session?

Your first session is about understanding what's been going on and what you'd like to work on. Your therapist will ask questions, listen, and begin to develop a sense of how therapy might be most helpful for you. There's no pressure to have everything figured out—we'll move at a pace that feels comfortable.

Do I need a referral to start therapy?

No, you don't need a referral. You can reach out to us directly to get started.

How do I know which therapist is right for me?

We take time to understand your needs and help match you with a therapist whose approach, experience, and availability align with your goals. If the fit doesn't feel quite right after your first session, we can explore other options on our team.

What does neuroaffirming mean?

Neuroaffirming care respects and affirms neurodivergent experiences, including ADHD, autism, and other ways of thinking and being. Rather than focusing on "fixing" differences, we work to support strengths, accommodate needs, and reduce overwhelm in ways that honor how your brain works.

About therapy

Who is therapy for?

Therapy is for anyone seeking support, clarity, or change. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from working with a therapist. People come to therapy for many reasons—feeling stuck, navigating transitions, managing anxiety or depression, improving relationships, or simply wanting a space to be heard.

How long does therapy take?

There's no set timeline. Some people work with a therapist for a few months to address a specific concern, while others continue for longer to support ongoing growth and well-being. We'll check in regularly about progress and adjust as needed.

What if I've tried therapy before and it didn't help?

Not every therapeutic relationship is the right fit, and that's okay. Sometimes the approach, timing, or connection wasn't aligned. We take time to understand what worked and what didn't in the past, and work collaboratively to create a different experience this time.

Is what I share in therapy confidential?

Yes. What you share in therapy is confidential, with a few exceptions required by law: if there is risk of harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable person, or if records are subpoenaed by a court. Your therapist will explain confidentiality limits in your first session.

Accessibility & inclusivity

Is your office accessible?

Our office is located on the upper floor. If you have mobility or accessibility needs, please let us know ahead of your visit so we can discuss accommodations and options.

Do you offer LGBTQ2S+-affirming care?

Yes. Our practice is committed to creating a space where people of all gender identities and sexual orientations feel respected, affirmed, and safe.
